When is a Brother drum reset necessary?

After a drum change, the Brother laser printer should automatically recognize the new drum and reset the counter in the printer. If this detection does not work immediately, e.g. B. when using compatible drums for Brother printers, you should reset the drum so that you can continue printing normally.

If the light on the printer display is blinking, indicating that the drum unit needs to be replaced, but you are able to print reasonably well with the new drum, you can try resetting the drum to resolve the laser printer light blinking issue. Observe the documents that are then printed and replace the drum unit in good time if the print image deteriorates accordingly and artefacts such as streaks become visible on the printed documents. If possible, reset the drum unit immediately after replacing it to avoid damage to the machine. Defective drums should be replaced immediately.

The drum unit is a consumable part and can usually withstand several toners before the printed image deteriorates and artefacts (streaks, streaks) appear on the printed documents.
